A statistical study recently conducted in the United States based on car sales data from December 2024 suggests that battery-powered vehicles still come at a considerable premium compared to their fossil-fuel counterparts.
On average, an EV costs $55,544 in the USA. A car with an internal combustion engine costs $49,270.
Even more interestingly, EV prices seem to have risen over the past year. The average transaction amount has grown by 0.8%, which isn’t much but runs afoul of the consumers’ expectations.
