Novelties
The updated Tesla Model 3 and Model Y for the Chinese market run on the same motors and batteries as before, but benefit from optimizations that improve their dynamic performance and power consumption.
The dual-motor Model Y Long Range now covers 750 km (466 miles) instead of 719 km (447 mi). The analogous Model 3 does 753 km (468 mi) per charge instead of 713 km (443 mi).
Note that both figures are quoted per the local CLTC standard, which is generally considered lax compared to the alternative. In the United States, these two models are EPA-rated at 526 and 557 kilometers of range, respectively (327 and 346 miles).
Those looking for a new Model 3 will appreciate to know that it also now sprints from zero to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 3.8 seconds. That’s considerably faster than the pre-facelift 4.4 seconds. Tesla doesn’t say so explicitly, but it looks like the car now ships with the formerly optional Acceleration Boost feature preinstalled. At any rate, the new Model 3 price went up by the exact amount the Acceleration Boost costs in China. The Model Y stays exactly the same in terms of starting price and acceleration.
