On the one hand, loads of hi-end tech and superb engine power are basically the two main features of Tesla cars. On the other hand, aftermarket suspension manufacturer H&R claims that some models – such as the Tesla Model S – could make do with a custom spring set optimized for sports use.
Once installed, the springs reportedly enhance the steering and the dynamics of the North American-made EV. The road clearance loses another 30 mm (1.17”), which should reduce rolling and enable making sharp turns at higher speeds.
It’s also worth pointing out that designing custom suspension for a vehicle such as the Tesla Model S is no easy task at all. The heavy battery car sports a low gravity center, insane amounts of torque and lightning-fast acceleration times. Imagine just how stiff the springs have to be in order to withstand such loads! Nonetheless, it looks like the H&R engineer team did their job well.
The spring kit costs €374 in Germany. The company will also be releasing Trak+ wheel spacers soon, but their availability and prices remain unconfirmed.
