Video: Tesla Model S passes moose test with a live moose

The so-called moose test is used in the automotive industry to determine how well a given car can evade a sudden obstacle on the road. The Swedish driver of this Tesla Model S never had an idea he would have to do it the hard way.

The man posted a video that seems to prove just how capable Tesla electronics are at avoiding collision. He said he drove on snowed-under suburban highway at night with the Autopilot feature turned on when an adult moose suddenly appeared ahead. The self-driving tech reacted by rapidly changing the course to swerve around the animal and then hit the brakes to stabilize.

The sharp maneuver caused the sedan to skid on the snow, but stability control kicked in soon enough and returned it into the lane.
