Tesla Model S burns down in a dealership lot

A Tesla Model S P100D spontaneously caught fire while parked in a dealership in Georgia, USA, likely due to a faulty battery. These photos have been shared by the administration of the town where the incident happened.

Preliminary investigation of the wreck suggested that the bodywork near the b-pillars and on the driver’s side was damaged the most during the fire. In addition, one of the photos clearly shows gouts of flame erupting from underneath the car. Having said that, an official cause of fire has not been established yet, and Tesla has not commented on the incident, either.

A representative of the administration pointed out that the firefighting crew had to resort to out-of-the-box thinking in order to quell the flames. Among other things, they had to prop up one of its sides to get access to the bottom where the battery array was mounted.
