Until the new 911 GT2 RS comes out, Porsche fans have the 911 Turbo S to rely on for performance and speed. The current generation is no slouch at all, driving all four wheels with 648 PS (639 hp / 477 kW) through a PDK semi-auto box. But does it have what it takes to dethrone the dreaded Tesla Model X Plaid?
The Model X pictured here is a three-row SUV that weighs all of 2,404 kilos (5,300 lbs). It compensates for that with a three-motor electric powertrain capable of 1,034 PS (1,020 hp / 760 kW). Despite the power advantage, it needs around 2.5 seconds to get to 60 mph (97 km/h) in most conditions – merely one-tenth of a second less than the Porsche, which also runs the quarter-mile in ten seconds.
In the latest video by DragTimes, both cars are completely stock and compete against each other on the Palm Beach Raceway in Florida. Which one do you think will win the quarter-mile run?
