Tesla specialist stumbles upon a swiveling screen on a recent Model S

The central display of the latest Tesla Model S can be pulled out from its niche and turned to face the driver or the front passenger, Carscoops reports quoting one of the owners. The company never announced this feature.

Larry Lee, who was apparently the first to discover the swivel mechanism and post his findings on social media, is a known Tesla fan and owner of an aftermarket tuning shop. This background led many users to assume at first that he was joking around, having installed or even invented the mechanism himself. Later, however, Lee showed how the display could be turned to face the driver or the passenger using standard infotainment UI controls.

He also pointed out that the owner of the car only received it on April 29, 2022, meaning it was brand new and from a very recent batch.

Carscoops was able to find one instance of Tesla mentioning a swiveling screen feature, but it was made long ago and presented merely as a possible future addition. There was no public announcement of it becoming standard or even optional on any Tesla cars.
