The Tesla Model S Plaid doesn’t fool around in acceleration races: we have lost count to its number of victories so far. The latest video sees it going up against some of the best drag racers out there, though, and one inches out a victory – although it is up to you to decide if it even qualifies.
But first things first. The race begins with the Model S Plaid greeting a McLaren 720S, a formidable track weapon with a 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 under the hood. Packing 720 PS (710 hp / 529 kW) and 770 Nm (568 lb-ft) of torque, the supercar needs 2.9 seconds to hit 100 km/h (62 mph).
The second contender is a heavily tuned C5 Chevrolet Corvette, but its owner is tight-lipped about any details. The third and final race is held between the Plaid and a Suzuki GSX1300R Hayabusa, a high-end motorbike. You may argue that it is not a fair comparison, but in our opinion, drag races are only really fun when the opponents have you guessing which one wins.
Anyway, watch the full video and find out how everything went!
