Tesla has posted a video on its social pages previewing a swiveling screen option for its EVs. It is still not available for ordering, though, and lacks a launch date.
In the video, the driver and the front passenger fight each other for the display, pushing buttons to rotate it left or right. It looks like the mechanism is powered by a small servomotor and can be fixated in three main positions: right (facing the passenger), left (facing the driver), and neutral.
CarBuzz believes that Tesla is actually working on another, more sophisticated feature for the Model S and Model X. Rumor has it that the final implementation of the swiveling screen will be able to align the screen perfectly with the line of sight of the person using it, taking into account such parameters as user height and eye direction. Users will allegedly be able to ask the car to have their optimal settings saved and later automatically applied.
