Reports: Tesla’s recent Nürburgring record may have already been beaten

On June 4, Tesla announced that its latest Model S Plaid had reclaimed the title of the fastest production EV on the North Loop. Popular vlogger Misha Charoudin, who works as an instructor at the world-famous racing circuit, surprised the media by saying that the record had already been beaten. He added that he had reservations regarding some of automaker’s suspicious actions during the record run.

According to Charoudin, the new record announcement will be made when the time is right – for example, when the company celebrates 75 years in business. In essence, he made it abundantly clear that the new champion of the ‘Ring is a Porsche – no other car company is celebrating turning 75 years old this year. It is also one of Tesla’s greatest nemeses on the North Loop.

Charoudin went on to point out that a Tesla rep refused him entry when he simply asked to take a look inside the cabin. The official video from the record run only reveals a bucket seat and a safety cage, but the instructor believes there could be other equipment inside that never made it into the frame.

Last but not least, he pointed out that one of the Model S Plaid cars that arrived at the ‘Ring had a distinctly visible wheel camber. Tesla offers no such option from the factory, prompting the obvious suggestion that the car was discreetly modified prior to the race. If more such allegations follow, Tesla might end up having to admit cheating on the North Loop. That said, none of them are official yet, so we will just have to wait for the story to develop.
