The YouTube team of Boosted Boiz has posted the footage from a record-breaking drag strip run featuring a Tesla Model S Plaid considered to be the world’s lightest, most thoroughly stripped Plaid.
To surpass the manufacturer’s claimed quarter-mile sprint time, the team didn’t just remove pretty much everything there was to remove from the electric saloon but also invited the lightest driver they could find, weighing in at just 36 kilos (around 80 pounds).
The standard Model S Plaid EV utilizes its three motors to deliver up to 1,034 PS (1,020 hp / 760 kW) to the wheels and finish a quarter-mile run in 9.23 seconds while hitting 250 km/h (155 mph) near the finish. The example in the video hit 254 km/h (157.8 mph) and managed to cross the finish line in 8.714 seconds. It had all of its side panels and seats removed except for the driver’s.
