Those of us who wanted to get a Tesla Convertible had two main options: either buy a used Tesla Roadster for $50 to $80 thousand USD, or wait for the next-generation model to be released in 2020.
A third option has been there all along, though. You could simply take your Tesla Model S to a tuning atelier and ask for a large-scale customization job.
The owner of this particular Tesla Model S must have had his ride customized by Newport Convertible Engineering, although it is hard to be certain. NCE frequently builds open-top and removable-top modifications of popular vehicles.
The photos show what looks like a Tesla Model S with a soft top in place of its original roof and a roll bar instead of a B-pillar.
The cost of the upgrade is likewise unknown right now.
