Canadian Police buys a Tesla Model X for routine patrol jobs

The police of Ontario Province, Canada, has placed an order for a top-performance Tesla Model X all-electric SUV. It is expected to be used for routine patrolling tasks by rank-and-file policemen rather than as an executive car.

Despite the hefty price tag, Ontario police chiefs believe their CA $100,000+ purchase to be entirely justified. The rationale is rather simple: a substantial sum goes into refueling the patrol vehicles every day. An all-electric car can actually return the investment pretty quickly. Furthermore, there’s a favorable impact on the environment which also can’t be denied.

Canada is far from being the first country to have introduced all-electric police patrols, however. Similar practices are already adopted in Los-Angeles and Denver, U.S.A., to name just a few. City authorities of Luxembourg and London are currently considering switching to Tesla Model S cars for the same purpose.
