Video: Tesla testing a dual-engine Model Y

Tesla has repeatedly stated that it would make its upcoming Model Y SUV available in Performance spec with dual electric motors. A couple days ago, one such car was spotted parked in public in San Luis Obispo, California.

The ‘Dual Motor Performance’ badge on the trunk lid is all evidence we have to conclude that the battery SUV has twice the usual motor count. According to Tesla, the model runs 0-60 mph (0-97 km/h) in 3.5 seconds and maxes out at 150 mph (241 km/h). The range is manufacturer-estimated at 280 miles (450 km).

Based on the video, the Performance spec will differ slightly from the standard spec in terms of design. Among other things, it has tinted lighting all around, blacked-out rear windows, black door handles, and 19-inch wheels the same shape as those of the Tesla Model 3.
