Two much-anticipated electric SUVs enter the market in 2020: the Tesla Model Y and the Ford Mustang Mach-E. The website PartCatalog.com has conducted a bit of research to see which U.S. states tend to talk more about which car.
The study covered 10,000 geotagged tweets mentioning either of the two SUVs. As it turned out, 30 states tend to mention the Tesla more often, while the others seem to be more interested in the Mach-E. It also surfaced that the Middle West, the South and Florida prefer to tweet about the Ford, while Texas shows a strong predisposition towards the Tesla.
The company admits that analyzing tweets is not the most scientific approach for predicting actual market demand, but it may still provide some insight into what people are interested in. And, if it is any indication, it seems like the Mach-E may undercut Model Y sales in no small way, despite Ford fans complaining about its weakness or lack of relation to the gas-powered Mustang line.
The Ford Mustang Mach-E will emerge in the United States priced from $43,895. The Tesla Model Y will initially hit the showrooms with a higher price tag of $47,000, but a more affordable $39,000 trim will emerge later.
