Tesla Model Y destroys competition at the moose test

Spanish magazine km77.com has conducted a sudden obstacle evasion test with a Tesla Model Y and found that the electric crossover SUV maintains near-perfect control in such scenarios, earning it a place in the Moose Test Hall of Fame.

During the initial test run, the crew praised the responsive steering and predictable behavior of the Model Y. They proceeded to raise the speed of entering the cone-demarcated lane and easily went over 77 km/h (47.8 mph). After that, one of the test drivers succeeded at doing the test at 82 mph (51 mph), and another one even pulled it off at 83 km/h (51.6 mph).

Only the Ford Focus and the Tesla Model 3 – a close relative of the Y – were as capable at the simulated routine of moose evasion. The team pointed out that neither the higher ground clearance nor the higher center of gravity compared to the Model 3 could affect the performance of the Model Y. It also passed the slalom trial quite well, earning a commendation for safety and handling.

In other recent news, the newest BMW M4 did only moderately well at the moose test with 77 km/h (47.8 mph), but revealed excellent slalom capabilities. The crew supposed that it could have something to do with its largely track-focused settings of the chassis and electronics.
