Here is a drag race we have all been looking forward to: a maxed-out Ford Mustang Mach-E goes up against a Tesla Model Y Performance. Both sprint 0-97 km/h (0-60 mph) in 3.5 seconds, but which one is faster?
At 2,004 kilograms (4,420 lbs), the Model Y is considerably less heavy than the Mach-E GT Perfomance with its 2,266 kg (5,000 lbs). This is explained by the latter having a battery as large as 99 kWh, whereas the Tesla makes do with 80 kWh.
Before you begin watching, note that the video includes a number of races against the Model Y Performance. The Electric SUV has little trouble dealing with most of them, but can it hope to outrun the Mustang Mach-E GT, a best-seller that even the Police Department of Michigan found exceptionally good for their purposes?
