Tesla prepares updates for Model Y & Model 3

Tesla Inc. has more hardware and software modifications coming to its Model 3 sedan and Model Y SUV. The details are not there yet, but insideEVs.com managed to get some unofficial information.

Reportedly, both cars will soon ship with a different on-board computer, 15.5V lithium-ion battery, and acoustic glass in the back. The Model 3 Performance will benefit from a new electric motor, while the Model Y Performance will make use of a different AMD Ryzen CPU.

A new feature called Superhorn will be able to engage the horn, the alarm and the external speaker all at once to warn passers-by about the approaching EV. Just how exactly it will work remains to be seen (or, rather, heard).

There is more coming. Certain trim levels will get revised carrying capacity, new brake pads and rotors, and a different system of VIN coding.

Tesla has recently become the target of harsh criticism after it became clear that a recent update enabled drivers to ignore safety precautions and play games during driving (watch the video if you missed it). The car displays a warning saying that only passengers are allowed to play games on the road, but there are no safeguards to prevent the driver agreeing to the disclaimer and playing anyway, creating a hazardous situation.
