Roadster, Semi and humanoid robots: Tesla claims all three will come true in a year

At the Cyber Rodeo event dedicated to the launch of the new Gigafactory Texas in Austin (see video), Tesla CEO Elon Musk didn’t just shock the audience with a shoddy Cybertruck mockup, but also shared his vision of the future (spoiler: it’s full of androids and promises).

The company announced its large EV truck, the Semi, entering pre-production phase in late 2021, but we haven’t seen any examples on the road since. It is now official that the market will only get the Semi in 2023.

As for the Roadster model announced five years ago, it was destined to become the brand’s tech flagship thanks to being able to accelerate 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph) in under two seconds. Musk confirmed that the Roadster was also in the plans for 2023 and invited everyone interested to leave a $45,000 USD deposit on the Tesla website (full pricing and availability dates remain unknown).

Aside from this, the company has ambitious plans concerning the production of humanoid robots and robotaxis. Launching Giga Texas will enable Tesla to bolster its presence on the U.S. market, which currently revolves around one percent.
