Reports: Tesla Model Y coming late from Germany

Tesla Inc. has yet to begin mass deliveries of its Model Y SUVs from Gigafactory Berlin. According to InsideEVs, the delay may have something to do with drivetrain issues.

Early buyers of these cars have reported numerous problems, apparently forcing the company to reschedule or cancel many deliveries set for late June. Not long ago, Elon Musk said the industrial complex raised the production volumes to 1,000 weekly units.

The delay might have been caused by further difficulties, with anonymous sources reporting a critical drivetrain failure making the EV unresponsive to any steering input while on the road.

If so, Tesla will have to replace all defective components with a new supply before proceeding, as this is a mechanical and not a software failure. Those unlucky to have ordered their SUVs around this date will have to wait until late July at best.
