Tesla only commissioned its Giga Texas factory in April this year, and already the 10,000 has come off the production line. The company celebrated the small-but-important milestone with a short comment and a photo.
In late summer, it was revealed that the automaker was able to increase the production rate at Giga Texas to 1,000 weekly Model Y units, and planned to raise it further to 5,000. Right now, the bottleneck is in the lack of innovative 4680-type battery cells.
In July this year, the company’s other factory located in Fremont hit 2,000,000 produced cars, distributed among Tesla Model S, X and Y models. Its Shanghai industrial site celebrated making more than 1,000,000 Model 3 and Model Y units in August. The Berlin factory is also revving up, making 1,000+ electric SUVs per week starting from June.
Going forward, Tesla plans to launch the production of its long-anticipated pickup truck – the Cybertruck – in Texas. There is still no specific start date, though.
