During a special shareholders’ meeting, Tesla CEO Elon Musk showed the attendees a photo of a mysterious new car, promising that the company was actually working on not one, but two such cars. He also said that Tesla expected these two EVs to sell 5,000,000 units annually and promised to reveal more details during a dedicated presentation event.
The only teaser pic revealed so far shows an electric vehicle looking much like the latest Model Y, although with some modifications. Insiders have been reporting recently that the company had started work on a ‘Project Juniper’ to refresh the Model Y and further boost sales. The car was allegedly only scheduled to reach the market in 2024, though.
In early April, Tesla revealed another teaser pic with two unnamed cars in it. Musk may have ben referring to them when he said ‘two models’ were under development, but the issue is, neither of those two models match the profile view on the teaser here.
In all likelihood, mentioning new models was necessary for Tesla to tell the world that it was actually working on something new. Musk even went as far as to claim that both the design and the industrial technology involved in the production of these cars would be ‘on a whole new level’ compared to the current ones. Unfortunately, this is about all we know about these mysterious EVs for now.
