Model PD has unveiled a police car take on the Tesla Model Y. The company hopes to attract the attention (and the funding) of actual police departments with its EV that it believes to be superior to regular patrol cars in many ways.
The EV pictured here features a heavy-duty front bumper, stainless-steel wheels shod in special tires, a custom body finish and warning lights. The glass roof was replaced with carbon-fiber panels.
A peek inside the cabin reveals wear-resistant materials all around and a special compartment for transporting delinquents. The infotainment system is Windows-based and runs non-standard software. There is even a hardware keyboard available, essentially turning the multimedia unit into a whole desktop PC.
Model PD believes that law enforcement agencies should take note of the car because it is faster and more agile than most traditional interceptors and cheaper to maintain.
