Tesla Model Y Standard gets delisted from the U.S. website

Tesla Inc. has removed the base Model Y specification from the list on its official website in the United States, meaning you can no longer order the cheapest version.

According to Teslarati, the most affordable spec currently on sale is Dual Motor Long Range, which comes with improved power and range parameters. The company never specified why it would get rid of the entry-level Model Y, though.

The Standard spec debuted in April. It had two electric motors and started from $49,990, around $3,000 less than the Long Range. It had 449 km (279 miles) of range and could sprint 0-60 mph (0-96.6 km/h) in five seconds flat.

The Long Range spec is 0.2 seconds faster than that and covers another 82 km (51 miles) before needing a recharge. It has recently been discounted and is now offered starting from $50,490 before any applicable deductions.

Carscoops believes that the electric carmaker has too much on its hands with the impending mass production of the Cybertruck, so the disappearance of the cheap Model Y could have something to do with that. Both vehicles are made at the company’s Gigafactory in Texas, and removing one from the assembly line would free up more production slots for the other.
