Tesla Model Y once again crowned Europe’s most popular car

Tesla Inc. has sold 19,725 Model Y SUVs in Europe over August, Automotive News reports quoting the latest study by Dataforce. The electric car became the Old Continent’s most popular vehicle on the market since the beginning of the year.

Compared to the same month last year, Model Y sales have soared by 189%. Overall sales of the crossover SUV since January have amounted to 151,000 units so far.

The electric vehicle surpassed the much cheaper Dacia Sandero by around 3,000 units. The Volkswagen T-Roc landed third with around 138,000 units sold. The customer interest towards the Model Y has nearly tripled from January-August 2022.

Dataforce warns that the results are still preliminary, but the ranking is very unlikely to change when the final data arrives. If the Tesla Model Y continues to be as popular in Europe as it is now, it will surely become this year’s best-selling SUV.
