As someone interested in importing electric cars from China into Europe and the United States, the Tesla CEO says the prohibitively high import tariffs must be canceled.
Throughout the years, Elon Musk used to say that Chinese automakers would “nearly destroy” the competition unless governments raise import fees and introduce other restrictive measures. At a recent press conference in Paris, however, the Tesla boss surprised the media when they asked him about his opinion on the recently adopted tariffs.
He said neither he nor his company asked for such extreme measures, and that everyone was “shocked” at the news.
One has to wonder how the situation will develop for Tesla, which heavily relies on EV imports from China for its profitability.
