EVs lose popularity in Germany, Tesla fares the worst

Germany may pride itself on being one of the most environmentally responsible countries in the EU, but the statistics show that it, too, has been hit by the recent decline in electric vehicle sales.

The sales have dropped by 16.4% in the first half of 2024 compared to the year before. The market researchers behind the study suppose that it largely happened due to the cancellation of the state subsidies.

Tesla sales were in the confident lead to the rock bottom with a plunge of 41.6%. It is worth reminding that Tesla has a Gigafactory in Berlin mass-producing Model Y SUVs, giving it the advantage of lower production and logistic costs. It now looks like not even that is enough to reverse the trend.
