Elon Musk said Tesla would further improve the appearance of the second-gen Roadster before the production.
The electric car company CEO responded like this to a video featuring a Roadster prototype exhibited in the NYC Museum, saying the final production version would look even better.
The museum plaque claims that in its top specification, the car will benefit from an optional SpaceX package, which will include tiny gas-powered rocket accelerators. The innovative feature should enable the car to reach 60 miles per hour (97 km/h) from standstill in a never-before-seen 1.1 seconds.
Musk let it slip three months ago that some of the upcoming Tesla EVs would borrow features from SpaceX rockets, including the abilities to accelerate like lightning and even hover in mid-air.
The company recently registered a patent for a special windshield wiper system that consisted of a single windshield wiper powered by an electromagnetic drive. The Roadster is slated to become the first production-issue Tesla to benefit from the invention.
