In a shocking move that no one expected (okay, not really), Elon Musk has once again acknowledged that the Tesla Roadster isn’t coming to the market when it is due.
The concept of the second-generation Roadster (see video) premiered seven long years ago. The company’s eccentric CEO had reckoned back then that it would be ripe for production by 2020, but it kept getting delayed. The last time we heard from Musk, he promised to launch assembly in “late 2024” – guess what, it’s not happening once again!
There is also no new date at this point. Tesla Inc. still lists the Roadster in its official product plan for 2025, so it might yet get released several months later – but don’t quote us on that.
