A recent quadcopter footage shows us Tesla’s upcoming semi, aptly named the Semi, being tested at a proving grounds. It looks like the electric lorry may finally be close to production.
Take a close look at the exterior: every aspect appears finalized, so this is likely what the car will look like when it finally reaches the market. Production should start this summer, and Tesla hopes to be able to churn out 2,500 units before the end of the year. The first Semi version to ship will be the one without a bed for the driver to sleep in. Production plans for next year involve 10,000 units.
Tesla CEO Elon Musk had earlier promised us around 1,000 kilometers (620 miles) of driving range on a single charge and acceleration from zero to 60 miles per hour (0-97 km/h) in 20 seconds with a trailer attachment weighing in at 80,000 lbs (just under 40 metric tons). The final specs remain to be disclosed.
