Renault has launched an ad for its E-Tech D truck line and couldn’t resist mocking its competitor, Tesla. While Elon Musk keeps making vague promises about his company’s Semi truck, Renault is already shipping an alternative.
The video starts with a man gluing a Tesla ad onto a billboard. The ad boasts about the ‘future of transportation’ coming soon and claims the Tesla Semi is almost at arm’s reach.
Having done his job, the man gets back into the car and shares a puzzled glance with the driver. They shrug and drive away, as it turns out, in a Renault E-Tech D. The ad wraps up with the text stating that the French marque’s electric trucks have covered over two million kilometers (1.24 million miles) on the roads, essentially delivering on the same promise Tesla did not.
When fully loaded, the E-Tech D is rated for 560 kilometers (348 miles) of driving range. Renault has so far managed to produce and sell 300 units.
