The Plasan Wilder is a mid-engined, armored, remotely controlled buggy

Israel-based special transports manufacturer Plasan has unveiled the Wilder, an all-terrain vehicle that can withstand armor-piercing shots while carrying up to four people and up to 800 kilograms (1,764 pounds) of cargo.

Judging by the video, the ATV has an energy-intensive suspension system with up to 370 mm (14.45 inches) of travel, which enables it to maintain high speeds on uneven terrain. The company advertises the Wilder as a multi-purpose vehicle, but the video shows a particular version with a machine gun attached.

The engine – a 2.8-liter Cummins diesel rated at 162 PS (160 hp / 120 kW) and 450 Nm (332 lb-ft) of torque – resides within the wheelbase and drives all four wheels through an eight-speed automatic transmission. Rear-wheel steering is available as a paid option.

The driver sits in the middle and enjoys a full panoramic view with three passengers on the back seat. An in-built remote control feature enables the team to abandon the vehicle in case of danger and send it to another destination without the driver.

Armored to the STANAG 4569 Level II specification, the car is designed to withstand sustained 7.62-caliber rifle fire from close distances, even if the ammo is incendiary and armor-piercing. It can also survive exploding on a 6-kg anti-tank mine.

Despite it weighing in at 3.7 metric tons (8,150 lbs), the engineering team calls the buggy ‘ultralight’. The dimensions and weight of the Plasan Wilder enables transportation by a regular Chinook-class helicopter.
