A Sierra RX3 single-seater buggy built by rallycross automaker Sierra Cars specifically for the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb event has gone on sale in the United States. The top bid currently amounts to $30,000, but there are still a few days remaining.
In its stock version, the RX3 uses the engine of the Suzuki Hayabusa motorbike. However, the Pikes Peak build trades that one for a larger 1.3-liter four-pot from Radical Performance Engines. Mated with a six-speed sequential transmission, it churns out roughly 204 PS (201 hp / 150 kW). With a curb weight less than 500 kilos (1,100 pounds), the racer is by no means underpowered.
The front wing has also been added specifically for the race, while the rear one is a part of the stock aero kit. Other improvements from stock include high-end Wilwood brakes, Zbroz Racing shocks, 13-inch Keiser wheels, a hydraulic handbrake and a fire extinguishing system.
The Sierra RX3 took part in the Race to the Clouds in 2020 and 2021, managing the ascent in 11 minutes 38 seconds the first time around. The seller emphasizes that its engine has only around seven hours of total operation on it – it should be basically pristine.
