Car manufacturer Toyota has finished construction of a new car testing ground in its name-giving city of Toyota, Japan. The company no longer denies the fact that the racetrack is a sized-down copy of the famous North Noop of the Nürburgring Circuit located in Germany.
The so-called Toyota Technical Center Shimoyama spans 650 hectares (2.5 square miles). It houses R&D facilities, high-speed runways, and a road that may look like a suburban highway at first, but is actually a copy of the North Loop. The track contains numerous rises, drops and sharp turns, and is 5,300 meters (3.3 miles) long.
Toyota has brought along its next-gen Supra and hybrid-powered Priuses to celebrate the opening of the testing ground.
