Toyota Allion to become available outside of Japan

For the first time on record, Toyota will be offering its Allion mid-size sedan in China: the reveal is scheduled for the Guangzhou Auto Expo 2020.

The FAW-Toyota joint enterprise has shared an uninformative teaser pic with the model name written on it, hinting that it will handle the production of the left-hand-drive Allion models. The newcomer utilizes the TNGA unitized platform and has 2,750 mm of wheelbase, which puts it in between the Corolla (2,700 mm) and the Camry (2,825 mmm). Its two-liter naturally aspirated engine links to a CVT box.

It remains open whether the 2021 Toyota Allion will be shipped to other markets as well later. The first generation debuted as far back as 2001, and the second one came six years after that and is still on sale – peek inside our gallery and watch the video if you need a better idea.

On a curious side note, Toyota offers a technical twin to the Allison in Japan, called the Premio. The cars are identical as far as the powertrains and the tech, but come with different décor and trim options and are sold by different dealerships.
