Toyota’s Gazoo Racing subdivision has officially confirmed that it only intended to produce 20 GR Super Sport vehicles – and as if pricing the batch through the roof weren’t enough, customers will have to fill out a survey to prove their worth.
The survey, which is available on the manufacturer’s website right now, asks for hopeful buyers to submit their personal data and detailed driving experience, including previous sports car ownership. Apparently, pre-owning a Lexus LFA or a Toyota 2000GT is seen as an advantage.
Wannabe GR Super Sport owners will also have to disclose how often they actually take their sports cars out for some driving, whether they indulge themselves in track days, how closely they follow motorsports news and whether they possess an FIA license. There are even tickboxes named “I am sponsoring a racing team” and “I own a racing team”.
Finally yet importantly, applicants are asked why they are interested in owning a GR Super Sport vehicle at all. Possible answers include liking its design, appreciating its connection to the 24 Hours of Le Mans, an ambition to participate in racing events, or simply a desire to invest in an exotic automobile.
For those who missed the news, the GR Super Sport is a road-legal modification of an eponymous racecar, which comes out soon and needs 20 production units for homologation purposes. Unlike the racer, which hits the wheels with 680 PS (671 hp / 500 kW), the civilian ride is expected to pack around 1,000 hp (750 kW).
