Toyota queues up 2 new 3-row SUVs for production in Indiana

Reports are coming in that Toyota will soon be starting production of two new three-row, electrified SUVs at its Indiana factory. One of these will don a Lexus badge and become the marque’s first production car to come out of that factory.

Toyota has not revealed the identity of the SUVs so far and given no estimated dates. What we know is that there will be up to eight seats in each, and that an entry-level autonomous system will be offered as optional equipment. Drivers will reportedly be able to use their smartphones to order the car to park itself remotely, as well as to let go of the steering wheel on certain stretches of the highway.

The automotive giant intends to invest $803,000,000 into modernizing its Indiana factory and hiring and educating 1,400 employees. The site currently produces the Sienna, Highlander and Sequoia models.
