That the Toyota GR 86 is coming is old news; that it will be present at the Goodwood Festival of Speed in the UK starting on July 8 is interesting.
The manufacturer won’t be keeping its next staple sports car behind the velvet rope this time around, either – it will participate in a hill climb race. Guests of the show will be able to have a good look at it in the First Glance paddock.
Aside from being renamed to GR, the 2022 Toyota GT 86 enjoys a major design overhaul both outside and inside. It has a seating formula of 2+2 and draws power from a 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine rated above 230 PS (227 hp / 169 kW). The old 2.0-liter mill retires, and the new one takes the coupe from standstill to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 6.1 seconds – 0.9s faster than before.
Shipments in the USA should begin before the end of the year.
