One of Toyota’s recent patent acquisitions from the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office was for ‘4Active’, likely the model name of a still unannounced car.
What specific car could that be referring to? Industry observers tend to agree that it is going to be a compact SUV. The Japanese automotive giant did mention that it was planning to launch production of an all-new SUV at its Alabama factory.
So far, our best (and only) guess is that the production car will be based on the FT-4X Concept revealed at the Detroit Motor Show two years ago. That edgy, rough-around-the-corners SUV looked similar to the rather unsuccessful Toyota 4Runner and FJ Cruiser, though, so we’d like to be proven wrong.
