The Japanese automaker has patented the exterior design of a previously unknown large SUV. AutoHome believes the vehicle is all-electric and set to occupy the flagship position in the company’s bZ lineup.
In late 2021, Toyota held a presentation where it previewed a slew of electric cars scheduled for production (see video). One of them looked nearly identical to the SUV patented now. The bumper lines, the lights all around, the flush door handles and the wheels all correspond to those of the concept car. Of course, Toyota may still choose to simplify the design somewhat before production begins.
The patents were submitted in China, but the automaker originally said that this particular model would go on sale in the United States. The production was set to begin in the company’s Kentucky factory no sooner than 2025.
