Toyota will have to review its target vehicle production and sales numbers for the current fiscal year, the company admitted in a recent report. The original target of 200,000 units sold has been dropped to just 123,000.
The automaker emphasizes that the performance of its hybrid vehicle division has been outstanding this year, even surpassing the expectations. Until the fiscal year is over, Toyota reckons it will have sold as many as 3,600,000 traditional hybrid vehicles – around 100,000 more than originally planned.
Furthermore, despite some unexpected setbacks like supply shortages and production lines idling for other reasons, Toyota and Lexus expect to break their combined sales record this year by delivering 10,100,000 or more cars to customers. The operational profit also promises to hit an all-time high at U.S. $30 billion or even higher.
