Toyota will be releasing an all-electric compact crossover/SUV model called Toyota C-HR in China in 2020. The corresponding statement was made during the ongoing Auto China show in Beijing.
The newcomer might get a lithium-ion battery set for 300 km (187 mi) driving range, but this isn’t official. What we know for sure is that the powertrain of the Toyota C-HR will be located low in the car body, protected by a guard plate.
The company plans to release an improved version of the Toyota C-HR a couple years after the vehicle hits the showrooms in China. That one would be based on an all-new platform and ship with a next-generation battery array that would go up to full charge in a matter of minutes.
The Japanese market release is scheduled for 2022, with the European one following shortly afterwards.
