The Japanese car giant Toyota will soon launch a new LE trim version of its C-HR compact crossover SUV. The vehicle is going to inherit its exterior appearance from the main series, but– just as its name implies – will have to sacrifice some of its options towards cost efficiency. It will first enter the U.S. market.
The new Toyota C-HR LE will cost only U.S. $22,000 to purchase, destination charge included. This is U.S. $1,500 below the next cheapest model.
Toyota openly admits it had to ditch some of the options and features to maintain the price point. For instance, the car now only ships with 17” wheels instead of 18” ones and can no longer be acquired in the Blue Flame color version (or any other contrast lacquering, for that matter). Driver aids are limited to cruise control, lane departure warning and the AEB.
The previously most affordable trim level, XLE, is now fifteen-hundred dollars above the LE. In its hi-end version, the compact crossover SUV ships with dynamic navigation, an advanced infotainment system and leather-draped interior – all of the above raising the price to U.S. $27,000.
