Toyota spokesman Orlando Rodriguez said in a recent media interview that the upcoming sport car, which packs a 1,000-horsepower / 750-kilowatt engine, would cost like a real hypercar, i.e. more than U.S. $1,000,000.
The vehicle is currently under development by Toyota’s subdivision Gazoo Racing. The company still hasn’t decided which markets it wants to target with its new hypercar.
The vehicle will be based on the GR Super Sport Concept demonstrated some time ago. Aside from that, no detailed information is available at the moment. Rumors say the production vehicle will be made completely out of carbon and ship with a hybrid engine based on a 2.4L V6.
It is expected that the hypercar family will incorporate pure racecars as well as street-legal models.
