There had been multiple reports from Toyota dealerships in the United States that the Avalon sedan would leave the market in North America after model year 2022, and an official representative of the company just confirmed them.
According to the announcement, the production of the Avalon model in Georgetown, Kentucky, will be wrapped up once the planned quantity of 2022MY vehicles is reached. At the same time, production will continue in Tianjin, China.
The original Toyota Avalon made its entrance at the 1994 Chicago Auto Show. It proved to be quite popular, but never managed to reach a best-seller status. The latest generation came out in 2018 and received a TRD version, albeit with the same engine and power output. The TRD spec only had exterior cues, suspension tweaks and a louder exhaust to show for being sportier.
