Toyota has introduced a pair of new concept cars from its all-electric ‘bZ’ family in Shanghai. Both are SUVs, but the target audiences are different. Both are slated to reach the mass market in China next year with no export plans just yet.
The first one, dubbed the bZ Sport Crossover, is aiming at the younger audiences. The manufacturer highlights that the owners will be able to ‘upgrade’ their ride as time goes by. It is unclear what that means specifically, but we think along the lines of over-the-air (OTA) updates.
In turn, the Toyota bZ FlexSpace comes to help out families with kids. It has a utilitarian interior layout, an extended suite of safety aids and more driving range than usual.
The ‘youth-oriented’ bZ SUV EV will be assembled at Toyota’s joint enterprise with BYD. The ‘family-friendly’ model will be handled by GAC.
