Toyota C-HR update brings along styling changes and new tech

The Toyota C-HR has been around for three years, and today, the company released the first images showing the impending 2020 facelift of the crossover SUV.

On the outside, the car sports restyled front and rear bumpers, as well as LED-based lights all around (this was previously reserved for top trim versions).

Technical improvements include optimized noise proofing, revised power steering, and Apple CarPlay / Android Auto support.

The car will now ship with a hybrid powertrain identical to that of the latest Toyota Corolla, namely, a 2.0-liter non-turbo engine, an electric motor, and an electromechanical CVT. The nominal output of this version amounts to 184 hp (137 kW). Its suspension is also sportier than that of the other C-HR variants.

The rest of the engine palette stays the same. This includes the 1.2-liter turbo (115 hp / 85 kW), the 2.0-liter naturally aspirated unit (148 hp / 110 kW, only available in select countries), and the weaker 1.8-liter hybrid (122 hp / 91 kW). Like before, all-wheel-drive is only available with the 1.2T version.

Sales in Europe and the USA will begin in a few months, with the new 2.0-liter hybrid restricted to Europe.
