Toyota prolonged its ownership of the Celica trademark around a month ago, leading to speculation on what the revived model might be like – if it gets revived, that is.
Japanese media claim that the future Celica will be a performance hatchback co-designed with Subaru and sized close to the Impreza Sport. It will allegedly pack a 2.4-liter turbocharged engine and all-wheel drive.
The two companies already have one shared model – the GT86/BRZ – and are reportedly also working on an electric crossover SUV.
The new Celica should reach the market later this year, the report states.
