Rumors emerged a year and a half ago that Toyota might bring back its highly popular Celica model for the international market. We only got vague hints from company reps back then, but what we received now is pretty much a direct confirmation.
During a press conference last weekend, a reporter asked Toyota chairman Akio Toyoda whether a new Celica was in the manufacturer’s plans. He redirected the question to Hiroki Nakajima, Chief Engineer of the Japanese brand, who smiled as he replied: yes, a new Celica was indeed in the production plans.
That’s all we’ve got so far, but the news definitely sounds promising for all Celica fans out there.
