Toyota announces Corolla GR Sport, Trek versions in Europe

Japanese automotive company Toyota has revealed two new versions of its Corolla compact car series sold in Europe. Called GR Sport and Trek, both will be featured at the Geneva auto show starting in less than two weeks.

The Toyota Corolla GR Sport (to be available in hatchback and estate/wagon body styles) comes with an aerodynamic body kit, a blacked-out radiator grille, 18-inch wheels, a rear diffusor and sport seats. As such, it has all the telltale signs of a performance car – but, alas, this similarity does not extend beyond the looks. Your engine options are still limited by two hybrids rated at 122 and 180 horsepower (91 and 134 kilowatts, respectively). Standard equipment includes LED headlights and combination seat upholstery with contrast stitching.

The Toyota Corolla Trek comes with the same drivetrain choices as the GR Sport. It offers plastic bumper guards, 17-inch wheels, and 20 mm (0.8”) of extra ground clearance. The Trek trim is only available with an estate/wagon version of the Corolla.

First Corolla GR Trek vehicles will roll into showrooms in August 2019, followed by the GR Sport in January 2020.
